The vessel ETERNITY sails in Newport Bay, California. She was built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in 1999 and then in 2004 was purchased by Electra Cruises. After an extensive refit, she entered service as a 350 passenger charter vessel. DeJong and Lebet was brought in to the project late in 2005 to help the vessel through the certification process with the USCG. Services provided included the inclining and stability analysis, a finite element analysis on the superstructure, electrical plans and structural fire protection and emergency escape planning. During the refit the owner also went to considerable effort to make ETERNITY the first wheelchair accessible, ADA approved vessel in Southern California. The new elevator serves all three enclosed decks. |
